|Dr Udoka Ugochukwu|
This passion led to the birth of CFI( Created For Impact Initiative), a non profit organisation reaching out to teens and youths globally.
CFI organises community outreaches, seminars and workshop for young people where they are taught about various life changing topics such as vision boarding, succesful networking and strategizing for successful ventures.
Her organisation has organised campaigns on topics surrounding mental health issues ranging from depression, sucide, addiction, negative labeling etc..
In this Interview, Dr Udoka tells the story of how her social impact project started and plans for the future.
What challenges did you encounter at the start of your initiative?
I don't know where to begin, but I think the major challenge apart from finances was the naysayers. It happened that I had people who focused much on the obstacles than the results. And honestly it was discouraging. I had to pray and I asked God 'where is my Aaron? Send my Aaron'. I still remember what God told me in response. He said that I do not have moses' deficiencies...lolz.
Well, I think I should use this medium to appreciate my mum, Evang.Dr. Mrs Ugochukwu, she is a massive inspiration to me.
I will never forget her words to me. She said, "baby girl start from where you are and with what you know and with what you have, don't wait till you have a help or till everything is ready, just start first". That was it--the beginging of my journey to impact. GOD used her to position me for success.
What advice do you have for women who need inspiration to start making impact in their communities?
My advice to young women is that success doesn't happen overnight. However it begins with faith in God, self-belief and obedience.
Believe in GOD, believe in yourself. Believe to the point of obedience. If you ask me the secret to my success so far, I will say it's obedience.
Just obey God's lead and timing for your life.
Rely on his and strength not yours. Rely on his wisdom, not yours. Rely on his provision, not in others. Rely on his corrections not in others criticism. Make him your source of comfort not any. Make him your source of hope not any. Make him your go to person not any.
Trust me, you will be successful. God can not lead any man to laziness and failure.
How do you combine your career as a doctor with your social impact project?
Thankfully my job affords me the oppurtunity, flexibility, skills and resources to venture into community health outreaches and so far it has been a success.
The only challenge in this regard is time. It often seems like 24hrs in a day isn't really enough for me. But I have been blessed with the ability to manage this scarce resource called time. God has also been bringing the right support system my way and I'm grateful.
Where do you see the Created for Impact Initiative going?
Created for Impact Initiative is here to stay as long as there is someone out there with a dream.
We are here to encourage them till those dreams become a reality. So going futher, we will be having more outreaches, social campaigns, seminars, empowerment...etc.
The next event will be coming up on the 28th-29th of May 2021 and it will be centred on dealing with grief.
